How Much Sun Does Your Nursery Get?
Experts advise using screen with an SPF of at least 15 and wraparound sunglasses called ‘broad spectrum’ when it comes to babies and sunlight.
What About Inside The Nursery?
Now we’re not saying that you have to slather your baby in sunscreen and strap on the sunglasses for their afternoon nap because it’s sunny in the nursery. A good amount of sunlight in the nursery makes it cheery and pleasant. It may not be conducive to sleep however; and your baby’s crib should never be indirect sunlight. Blinds, curtains or shades will block some light so that your baby should be able to sleep and will also keep the room cooler in summer.
Outdoors Is A Completely Different Story
Plenty of sunscreen and baby sunglasses are absolutely necessary if you’re taking your baby out of doors. Even in the winter when it’s cold outside your baby may still need sunglasses. If anyone has walked out of doors during a sunny day after a large snowfall they may remember how blinding the sun reflecting off of the snow can be. It’s even worse for your baby.
Take care of your baby’s skin and eyes when it comes to the sun. Goodness only knows how they’ll abuse both later on in life, all on their own.
